It's New, and It's Ugly.

Whether it's because of the scarcity of land, higher construction costs, or an economy of scale, the upshot is that the majority of new urban construction looks the same, isn't particularly attractive, and ages poorly. This doesn't help the YIMBY movement at all. People are scared of change to begin with. If everything that goes up is blah it just reinforces everyone's fear of newness.
