Placemaking as Public Heath

These are the kind of organizations and stories that are going to be increasingly important to the health and vibrancy of cities. With decreasing membership in diverse social organizations we end up self-sorting which leads to feeling "like I was performing life in Austin instead of living it."

We talk a lot about placemaking as if it's purely an act of design or site-activation, when making places that matter is actually grounded in real relationships between people and between people and the places they inhabit. Placemaking should be a key tool in the public health arsenal.
