End Users Happen to be Actual People

There's a nugget in this story - that Silicon Valley is plagued by an empathy gap driven by an odd predisposition to forget that end users are actual people - that arises in real estate development as well. The strong predisposition towards summarizing information with metrics and the output of big data does no favors to a project when it comes to the human side.

Plus the article includes this fantastic description of Santana Row: "the offspring of a one-night stand between a European city and an airport duty-free store."
